If it were, there would be no need for faith. And though the Bible gives us the principles we need to live a life that honors God, it is no magic map. When you are in the middle of these kinds of confusing situations, it is hard to get a sense of whether you are moving in the right direction-or if you are even moving at all. You will have to carefully decide which is better for your family-more money or more of you. But the Bible doesn’t tell you what to do when he offers you a promotion that comes with longer hours. Scripture will tell you not to punch your boss in the head when he acts like a jerk (Matthew 5:39). Look all you want, but there is no chapter and verse for blonde or brunette. But what the Bible doesn’t tell you is which one to pick if you have found two candidates that both fit the bill. God has a whole lot to say about navigating the treacherous waters that are your love life. And the Bible tells you clearly what sexual activities are out of bounds before you are married (Ephesians 5:3). ![]() There are verses that will tell you what kind of spouse to look for, what kind of character the person you date should have (2 Corinthians 6:14, Proverbs 31, and so on). I stand alone on the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E!” Don’t you know that we’re supposed to turn to Scripture as a map? Even if you were to say it louder, there would be no secret source to tell you, for instance, what state you should live in or what college to apply to.īut Levi, you might be thinking, there is a magic map.
